Many people are waiting for Saturday and Sunday as days off after five days of effective work. Besides filled recreational activities, weekend many people used to sleep. Some people think, consumed a lot of time sleeping during the work day can be replaced during the weekend or the holidays arrive, and they do it for their health.
Unfortunately, this practice according to the results of a recent study it was not responding to the quality of one's sleep. Long sleep on weekends will not replace lost sleep during the week. In fact, this activity may make people more sleepy on Monday morning.
Scientists from UT Southwestern Medical Center, said the long bed on Saturday and Sunday will disrupt the body's internal clock. So that makes a person even more difficult to get up in the days after the holiday.
"There is a myth that says if you are losing sleep over the day-to-day work, it may be replaced at the weekend," said Dr. Gregory Carter, one of the researchers.
He considered this myth wrong. In everyday life, our bodies have a daily or circadian cycle that guides our body internally. One can delay their circadian cycle up to an hour.
The experts explained that the long bed on Saturday would delay the circadian clock in the brain to two. This will make it harder to sleep on Sunday, so you have trouble waking up on time on Monday.
Carter suggests, if you want to balance the sleep debt on work days should be accelerating the sleep time in the future. Sleep debt can be compensated by a rest period 8 hours in bed.
So, You still like a long sleep on weekends?
